We have launched two new videos in our English for Health series to support mums-to-be and new mums who have English as an additional language to help understand the post-natal support that’s available to them and their baby in the UK.
These resources are two animated teaching videos with accompanying information packs, available free from our website.
The videos show the different health professionals parents will meet, what sort of checks they will do on mum and baby, and as they grow older. It also shows where you can get help with the different services available. The free videos are easy to understand and aimed at people who have English as a second language.
This latest English for Health series has three objectives:
- To inform participants about the range of healthcare professionals available to support them after the birth of their baby.
- To illustrate the journey of support, as their baby grows and develops, so they know who will be supporting them and how that support can be accessed at each stage.
- To educate participants on the key elements of keeping their baby healthy such as the importance of breastfeeding where this is possible. We will also include information on what signs and symptoms to look out for and what steps to take if their baby becomes unwell.
Our English for Health teaching materials are aimed at those who don’t have English as a first language, and include a growing portfolio of resources that can be shared online or face-to-face with groups, as well as acting as standalone educational tools.
